‘Team e2v’ takes on ultimate 24-hour biking challenge with Ride24

Four fearless contenders from e2v’s High Performance Imaging division have completed a gruelling 24-hour cycling challenge this weekend, having cycled nearly 500 miles to raise over £2400 for children’s charity Action Medical Research.

Ride24 is an annual non-stop relay racing challenge that was based this year at the Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit in Sussex. The UK’s only 24-hour endurance race pushed e2v team-mates Phil Brown, James Endicott, Andrew Walker and David Wilson to their limits on Saturday as they completed the challenge throughout the day and night. Between them Team e2v successfully cycled over 200 laps of the 2.4 mile circuit, and despite the extra challenge of heavy rain and strong winds for 10 out of the 24 hours of the race, they travelled an impressive total of 480 miles.

The team said:  “We really appreciate the massive contribution that our colleagues, friends and family and have made towards this event and the charity. Racing for 24 hours was a fun and challenging experience, made more so by the “inclement weather” during the night, however spirits remained high even whilst putting back on our sodden Lycra in preparation for the next stint! All of our expectations were exceeded in terms of the amount of money raised, distance covered and achieving 8th position overall, setting a high standard for next year!”

By taking part in Ride24, Team e2v have raised over £2400 for Action Medical Research, a leading UK-wide charity which helps fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and children.
