e2v secures major UK deal to supply 165 Argus Thermal Imaging Cameras

e2v, manufacturer of Argus thermal imaging cameras, today announced they won the bid to supply Welsh Fire and Rescue Services with life saving thermal imaging equipment.

The Welsh Assembly Government recently received over £600k worth of funding to spend on operational equipment for Welsh fire and rescue services. The majority of this funding is being used on one hundred and sixty five Argus4 cameras and accessories, which are due for delivery by early April 2011.
Argus4 cameras have advanced digital imaging technology which provides by far the best image quality of any handheld thermal imaging camera on the market today. The cameras are especially designed for fire fighters, with a range of innovative features to help evaluate their surroundings, particularly in emergency situations with zero visibility.
John Masheder, e2v’s divisional director commented “We are delighted that after a careful evaluation of available thermal imaging technology on the market, the Mid and West Wales fire service has chosen to equip Welsh fire fighters with Argus thermal imaging equipment,” adding “ This win, along with many other recent successful contracts to supply UK fire services, including London Fire Brigade, demonstrates the confidence that fire services have in the outstanding quality and reliability of Argus4 cameras.”

About Argus cameras

Argus cameras are designed to the highest specifications to instill confidence in emergency services personnel that they are using the best thermal technology available to them. Argus cameras enable fire-fighters to see through smoke, identify and rescue casualties and locate hot spots or the seat and spread of a fire. They aid police and security forces to apprehend criminals, gather evidence saving lives and property in the process. Argus cameras have many further applications where temperatures require monitoring such as preventative maintenance and condition monitoring of equipment. They can also provide vision where light is unavailable.

Argus4 thermal imaging cameras are extremely light, weighing less than 3lbs (1.3kg). They come packed with the most advanced features available on the market today. Argus4 cameras are equipped with up to x4 zoom, 13 colour settings and a picture capture facility, capable of taking up to 100 pictures, which can then be stored and downloaded to a PC/Laptop through a USB cable for quick transfer. The Argus4 HR32O has been designed using advanced digital imaging technology for a sharper picture and provides superior performance. Argus4 thermal imaging cameras are suitable for multiple applications. In fire fighting situations in ships, buildings and planes, they save vital seconds in scene assessment, quickly locating both the source of any fire and any casualties for more information.
